Morrow– A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Thelma Marks Cormier on Friday, July 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Peter Catholic Church in Morrow. Fr. Vincent will celebrate the mass. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Peter Catholic Church Cemetery in Morrow.
Thelma, age 93, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Avoyelles Manor Nursing Home in Dupont.
Thelma cherished spending time with her family; especially gathering in the morning at the Coffee Clash. In her early years she enjoyed dancing with her husband, Weston. Thelma later enjoyed sewing and playing pokeno. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Thelma is survived by her sons, Leston Cormier and wife, Geneva of Bayou Jack, Lastie Cormier and wife, Sue Ellen of Bayou Jack, Sidney Cormier (Sherrie) of Ponchatoula, Eugene Cormier and wife, Alice Faye of Denham Springs; daughters, Elaine Thibodeaux of Denham Springs, Gladys Ann Sprinkle and husband, James of Evergreen, Dianne Deno (Mark) of Denham Springs and Sr. Jacinta “Phyllis” Comier of Lafayette Carmelite Monastery; 20 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, Weston Joseph Cormier, Sr.; sons, Nolan Cormier and Weston Joseph Cormier, Jr.; grandsons, Andrew Sprinkle and James Whittington; parents, Elias Marks and Alida Stelly Marks; brother, Charles Marks; sisters, Rose Stelly and Rena Landry.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening. Visitation will reopen at St. Peters Catholic Church on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until mass 11:00 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Cormier, Anthony Thibodeaux, Larry Joseph Bordelon, Jr., Quentin Cormier, Joshua Cormier, Mark Cormier, Christopher Deno.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff and nurses of Compassionate Care Hospice and Avoyelles Manor Nursing Home for all the special love and care shown to Mrs. Thelma and her family.
