Thelma L. Day, 89, of Carlisle, PA entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Green Ridge Village, Newville. Thelma was born on January 20, 1936, in Turbotville, PA to the late Frank and Mary (Heddings) Cromley.
While Thelma spent time in her younger years working outside the home, she was predominantly a homemaker, wife and mother. She was an excellent cook and always made sure no one went hungry.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her extensive family and friends. With infectious and frequent laughter, Thelma was loved by many. Her hobbies included needlepoint, crocheting, scrapbooking, gardening, puzzles and collecting Elvis's memorabilia. She was also a lifetime member of American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries and a former member of Carlisle AARP.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life and her husband, Thomas L. Day Sr, five sisters, a brother and a grandchild. Thelma is survived by her children: Donna McGinty (Alan) of Carlisle, Karen Johnson (Randy) of Gardners, Teresa Gerst (Richard Baker) of Carlisle, Thomas Day Jr. (Susan) of Gardners, Bonnie Meisel (Dennis) of Elliottsburg, Timothy Day (Loren Garner) of Camp Hill, Randy Day (Dustie) of East Berlin and Alan Day of Dillsburg. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and even a great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at Hoffman Funeral Home at 2020 W. Trindle Rd in Carlisle on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at noon with the Rev. Troy Howell officiating. Visitation that day will begin at 11:00 am. A private graveside service will be held later at the family’s convenience.
The family would like to extend a special note of thanks to Green Ridge Village staff and to Residential Hospice, especially Ed, Emily, Joan and Tiffany.
