The Lord called Thelma Louise Hopkins home on March 16, 2025 in her home. Thelma faced many challenges in her life, she fought till she could not fight anymore. The Lord whispered and said your fight is over come on home to glory where there is no pain or suffering. She closed her eyes and went home to be with the Lord.
Thelma L. Hopkins was born and raised in Karnes City Tx. She attended school in Karnes City. When she moved to San Antonio, she attended St. Phillip's College. Thelma accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Prospect Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Jerry Bryant, Jr.
Thelma was involved with the church as the Announcing Clerk, videotaping, church programs, she was always helping the children by bringing them tacos, cookies, and drinks. Thelma was also on the Karnes City Memory Garden Cemetery Board for many years.
Thelma L. Hopkins was the seventh child to be born to Mr. Andrew (Peter) and Dorothy L. Fisher-Hopkins on April 14 1964. Thelma loved her family.
Thelma lost one of her best friends on October 16th, 1992 when her husband Maurice Glenn died, she did not know what to do without her friend, her husband, what she did not know was, Maurice would always be with her in her heart where he remained until she departed this earth.
Thelma's first job was at Green Diamond Restaurant as a dishwasher, she worked with her mom. In 1987 Thelma moved to San Antonio, Tx. with her husband Maurice Glenn where his job located him. When her beloved Maurice went home to be with the Lord in 1992, Thelma remained in San Antonio Tx.
Thelma was hired on at K-mart on Goliad Rd. from April 1987-March 1992, she was a cashier, stocker and worked in layaway along with other positions. She had met many good friends working at K-Mart, Sharon Mitchell and Troya Hall-Patterson to name a few. Thelma resigned from K-Mart and went to work at a dialysis clinic, her friend Troya Hall-Patterson got her hired with BMA Dialysis Clinic. Thelma and Debra Thomas were BFF's for over 24 years. Tevis Thomas thank you for all you did, taking her to and from doctor's appointments and then to FMC Dialysis Clinic March 30th, 1992 to January 25th, 2017. When her health started failing the doctor had to stop her from working, this was hard on Thelma, work was all she knew. Thelma loved her job, her co-workers, her boss, Mary Tison, she was the best boss a person could ask for. Thelma loved working, she met a lot of different interesting people.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband Maurice Glenn; her parents, Andrew (Peter) and Dorothy Hopkins; one sister Sylvia Ann Hopkins; three brothers John (Brother) Hopkins, Larry J. Hopkins, Sr. and Jerry Hopkins.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sisters Shirley A. Williams (Stanley) and Cora Lee Thomas; brothers, Stanley Hopkins (Mary Jane), Russell L. Hopkins (Lanell), Joe Hopkins (Amanda), Albert J. Hopkins, Sr. (TJ); two aunts, Lillian Alley, Peggy Henry; three God-children, Lynnasia Madden, Kenya D. Kinney and Terrence D. Kinney. Thelma leaves many good friends and relatives behind, Love you All!
