Thelma R Jones passed from this life on May 6, 2024, at the age of 97 in Mannford, Oklahoma.
Thelma was born on June 30, 1926, in Watts, Oklahoma to Andy and Lillie Mae (McClung) Reese. Thelma grew up and attended school in the Wildhorse Area of Osage County where she completed her education. Following the completion of her schooling Thelma started working at the Pioneer Store in Hominy. On November 24, 1944, Thelma was united in marriage to her childhood sweetheart Roy Wayne Jones at the Naval Reserve near Hominy. Thelma and Wayne moved to Tulsa, where they established their home. The couple remained in Tulsa until 1963, when they returned to Prue, Oklahoma. Thelma later gained employment at the First National Bank in Tulsa and worked in the central files department, retiring in 1985.Thelma loved teaching teenagers in Sunday School and working with teens. She was a devoted church member and loved helping with anything. Thelma held many positions in the church and served as treasurer for many years. Thelma was described as fun loving, kind and considerate.
Survivors include her two children Jerry Jones of Sperry, Oklahoma, Janetha Fleetwood of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; one sister Phoebe T. Holmes of Wildhorse, Oklahoma; three grandchildren Travis Jones, Amanda Brewer, Joanna Lancaster; five great grandchildren Blake, Tucker, Alyssa, Mose, Ray, one great great grandson Lucas and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, six siblings Ara Weaver, Jess Reese, Faye Weaver, J.D. Reese, Beatrice Reese and Oleta Toothman.
Services will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Prue First Baptist Church with Bro. Garry McDevitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie View Cemetery at Prue, Oklahoma.
