Theodore was a retired Army veteran, having joined the service on his 17th birthday during World War II, served tours of combat as an infantryman during the Korean War, and continued his service of 23 years through the Vietnam War era. He was also a retired college professor.
He is survived by his sons, Ken Critchfield and Ray Critchfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Izumi Ogata Critchfield.
Services will be held Monday, August 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison with full military honors.
Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home was entrusted with funeral care.
