Theodore Garrett (Ted) Durdel of Peoria, Illinois, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023,
surrounded by family. Born February 4, 1939, he was the eldest of three sons of the late Herman
and Helen (Heller) Durdel.
Ted graduated from Woodruff High School in 1957. He served in the Illinois Air National
Guard, where he was a jet mechanic. He owned Ted Durdel Landscaping and Tree Service
serving the Peoria community for 60 years. Ted was a lifelong member of Mt. Olive Missionary
Church. He had a love for fishing, hunting and the outdoors. Ted especially enjoyed time spent
at his cabin in Ontario, Canada, where he hosted many family members and friends.
Surviving are his brothers Fred (Flo) Durdel and David (Julie) Durdel of Peoria, IL, and three
nephews, Tim Durdel, Steve Durdel and Jamie Durdel. Ted also leaves behind his special friend,
Patti Oliver Cunefare.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28 at Mt. Olive Missionary Church, Peoria,
IL, from 3 pm – 5 pm with services at 5pm. Pastor Kurt Brubaker will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ted’s memory to Mt. Olive
Missionary Church. Cards can be sent from and condolences left at www.illinicremation.com.
