Theodore E. "Ted" Haringa

Theodore E. (Ted) Haringa, of Fowler Road, passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Palm Sunday, April 2nd, 2023.
He was the son of Herman R. and Jennie (Baker) Haringa. He is survived by his wife, Marie A. (Wassenaar) Haringa, with whom he shared nearly 69 years of marriage. He is also survived by their four children: Barbara J. Knapper, wife of Henry Knapper, who passed in 2010; Steven T. and his wife Ruth Haringa; Jane E. and her husband David Buteyn; and Timothy J. and his wife Lorraine Haringa. Theodore (Ted) was predeceased by one brother, Roger Haringa.
Ted was especially passionate about his family. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, and he was dedicated to investing his time, love and attention to each and every one; always inquisitive and supportive of their interests, education, hobbies and journeys in faith. He and his wife, Marie, would often spend one-on-one time with grandchildren, talking, learning and celebrating their achievements, milestones and passions.
Ted was employed at Lawrence R. McCoy & Co. Inc., in Worcester, Mass., for over 42 years, supporting the company through his impeccable organization, financial management and thorough, thoughtful communication. He retired as Vice President / Treasurer in 1997.
Ted was heavily involved in the community and the church, serving on an extensive list of committees, boards, and councils. As a strong man of faith, and a member of Fairlawn Christian Reformed Church, he supported the congregation both locally and abroad over many years in numerous different roles such as Educational Elder, Elder of Pastoral Care to Seniors, Financial Secretary, and Chairman of the Spiritual Life Committee.
Ted also spent many years serving on multiple boards at Unibank for Savings in roles such as Corporator, Board of Directors/Trustees, Board of Investment/Executive Committee, Chairman on the Compensation Committee, etc. His community involvement included, but was not limited to, volunteering for Meals on Wheels, serving as treasurer for the Whitinsville Christian School Board of Trustees, serving as treasurer for the Blackstone Valley Crop Walk, and holding multiple board positions during his membership with the Salisbury Singers.
Ted and his wife, Marie, shared many common interests that brightened their daily lives including beautifying their immaculate outdoor oasis on Fowler Road, candlepin bowling, enjoying live performances of all types of classical music, attending Whitinsville Christian School varsity basketball games, making road trips to the beaches in Rhode Island, traveling within the United States as well as traveling abroad to Italy, Greece, and other parts of Europe, including frequenting their family's heritage in the Netherlands.
Calling hours will be held at Buma Funeral Home, 480 Church Street, Whitinsville on Friday, April 14th, from 4-7pm.
Funeral services will be held at Fairlawn Christian Reformed Church, 305 Goldthwaite Road, Whitinsville on Saturday, April 15th at 11am. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Whitinsville.
