It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Theodore R Hicks on April 12, 2025. Born in Ozone Park, NY in 1948, he and his family later moved to Valley Stream, NY. He graduated from Lynbrook High School where he was a member of the football team and was always known for his playing in the worlds fair with his band "The Royals." He retired in 1996 from the Long Island Rail Road and enjoyed building lifelong friendships from his time as a block operator.
Theodore had a passion for fishing, boating, gardening, attending concerts in the park and driving his wife Karen like a queen in their 1966 Cadillac. He was an active member in his community in Tara of Commack and loved his involvement with the CAI (Community Associate Institute) and always talked about the friendships and events him and Karen Attended.
Theodore is survived by his wife Karen Hicks. He and Karen shared 53 years of marriage and over 55 years of friendship, a bond built on loyalty, laughter, and lasting love all from a blind date. He is survived by his 3 children, daughter Jen Keller (Ken), son Christopher (Kerri); son Paul (Melanie) and by his six grandchildren Jason, Justin, Christopher, Darielle, Madison and Brady. Theodore is also survived by his loving sister Shirley Kee (Kevin) and his niece Pam Carleo (Mike) and Matt (Stephanie).

I´ve known Ted since he met the Love of his Life, his wife Karen. I grew up next door to Karen and have known her my entire life and she is like family to me. Ted loved music and played in my brothers band. As I got to know Ted, he has always such a loving and devoted man to his wife and family. Last year, Ted and Karen came to visit me in Myrtle Beach, SC and took this photo of him of our time together. Looking at this photo again now the caption underneath is specially fitting since now Ted is "Soaring like an Eagle"
Our Love and prayers are with you
