Theodore "Ted" Houchin Jr.

In Loving Memory of Theodore "Ted" Houchin Jr. (1943–2025)
Ted Houchin, Jr, 82, of Whiteland, Indiana, a lifelong lover of old cars, art, traveling, and dancing, passed away peacefully at home on July 20, 2025.
Ted embraced life, designing and building hotrods, traveling with loved ones, creating "wild and crazy" works of welded metal art, and dancing to 50s music. One of Ted's greatest loves was old cars. To him, they were stories on wheels, reminders of a time when things were built with style and built to last. He would spend hours in the garage, reinventing them with patience and pride.
Ted was a member of Nineveh Christian Church. He was quiet about his faith, but he felt it deeply. A native of Franklin, IN, he served in the US Army, proudly serving in Vietnam. He was an Interior & Exterior Painter for over 40 years.
Ted is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Barbara (VanHooser) Houchin, four children, Morris (Jill) Houchin of Edinburgh, IN, Jeff (Michelle) Houchin of Melbourne, FL, Jason Fleming of Indianapolis, IN, and Joshua Houchin (Alanna) of Indianapolis, IN, and eleven grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 3 siblings.
We invite you to a Celebration of Ted's life, conducted by Tom Knight on July 28 at 2:00 p.m., at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, where we all can reminisce about memories of our times spent with Ted.
