Theodore E. Johnson, Jr., 89, of Hamilton, died Wednesday evening, December 25, 2024 at his home in Hamilton. He was the husband of the late Paula (Levesque) Bernard, who predeceased him in 2019.
Born in Melrose on September 27, 1935, he was the son of Ella (Douthwright) and Theodore Johnson, Sr. Ted was raised and educated in Hamilton, where he was a 1953 graduate of Hamilton High School. He was also a graduate of Northeastern University.
Ted began his professional career at the Mitre Corp, before founding Comdel Inc. in 1963. He worked at Comdel until his retirement in 2018.
A talented musician, he played the French horn in the Huntsman Band in Hamilton, Cape Ann Symphony Orchestra, the Dane Street Community Band, the Salvation Army Band, and the Enon Brass Regimental Band. He was highly involved in his children's musical endeavors.
Ted was an avid Red Sox fan and was committed to always helping others. In his early years he played on the Hamilton Town baseball league at Patton Park.
He leaves his children, Eric Johnson and his wife Janet of Jacksonville, FL, Kristen Wyco and her husband Robert of Gloucester, VA, Zachary Johnson and his fiancée Julia Bond of Hamilton, Michelle Zimmerman and her husband Keith of Danvers, Viki Brooks and her husband Gary of Danvers, and Jeremy Bernard of Lunenburg, a daughter-in-law, Jane Johnson of Gloucester, a son-in-law, Kevin McCormack of Williamsburg, VA, his siblings, Paul Johnson and his wife Patricia of Hamilton and Marcia Johnson and her husband John Yarosevich of Acton, Maine, 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two children, Scott Johnson and Kimberly McCormack, three grandchildren, Danielle, Alexis, and Robert, and a sister, Karen Zagorski.
His Funeral Service will be Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11:00a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Hamilton, 624 Bay Rd., Hamilton. Burial will follow in Hamilton Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00p.m. in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
