Theodore McCall Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burnside Funeral Home on Mar. 28, 2025.
Theodore James McCall, of Bridgeport, WV made his way home to be with Jesus on Thursday, March 27th, 2025, at the age of 82. His loving family surrounded Ted as he transitioned peacefully under the warmhearted care of Maplewood Healthcare Center in Bridgeport. Ted was born in West Milford on August 11th, 1942, and was a loving son of James John and Ruth Ellen McCall. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sibling, Jeffrey Andrew McCall.
Forever remembering Ted's quick-witted and clever personality is his wife of 56 years, Eva McCall, and two children, Melissa Miller and husband, Jimmy and Jason McCall. He leaves behind his adored grandchildren, Lauren Starkey and husband, Lorenzo, Joey Starkey and wife, Stephanie, Ashton Miller (Logan), Hannah McCall (Corbin), Andie McCall, and Ellie McCall of Bridgeport. Ted was also a great-grandfather of Nash Johnson, Scottie Tucker, and Clark, Charlie, and Baby Iris Carroll, she's on the way. Ted was a devoted husband and a dedicated father, and he never missed out on time with his family, whom he loved more than anything. Ted also leaves three siblings, Rodney McCall and his wife, Charlene, Rhesa Kennedy, Mary Beth Kyle, and her husband, Larry, many nieces & nephews, and stepmother, Nola McCall.
Ted, often referred to as "Too Tall McCall," was a Harrison County Jr. High teacher for over 30 years. He loved being an educator and instructing his students in creative ways. His students often commented that Mr. McCall was quite the comic relief in the classroom. Ted loved sports and was a great athlete in his younger years. He carried this tradition into adulthood and left his legacy as a coach for Jr. High and youth sports for over a decade. In his free time, he loved watching football and baseball mostly, and some of his favorites included the Bridgeport Indians, the WVU Mountaineers, and his all-time team, the LA Dodgers. Ted often reminisced about his long-time friends and told stories over and over again about growing up in West Milford. He loved and cherished those memories. Most importantly, Ted loved spending time with his family. He instilled faith into his home through his relationship with Jesus Christ. Ted loved sharing a good bible story with his kids and grandkids and attended church at Simpson Creek Baptist and Lifepointe Church. It didn't matter the day, time, or hour; Ted had time for the ones he cherished most. He never missed a holiday or a special occasion and enjoyed taking his family on vacations. He truly just loved being with his people. Ted will be deeply missed, but his stories, jokes, and humor will never be forgotten. Your family loves you, Ted!
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 2-8 p.m. on Monday, March 31st, 2025, and Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, from 9 a.m.-11 a.m., where services will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Larry Kyle presiding.
