Theodore “Ted” Roosevelt Trimmer, Jr., age 95, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Ted was born on Wednesday, July 30, 1930, in Harrisburg to the late Theodore Roosevelt Trimmer, Sr. and Grace Irene (Baker) Trimmer. In addition to his parents, Ted is preceded in death by his brother: Ray Trimmer; and his grandson: Brandon Trimmer.
Ted’s survivors include his loving wife of 72 years, Patricia “Pat” Helen (Heckman) Trimmer; his three children: Kathy Eberly and companion Robert Foster, of Camp Hill, Steve Trimmer and wife Ronetta, of Mechanicsburg, Eric Trimmer and wife Angela, of Mechanicsburg; his 14 grandchildren: Karri Houseman and her significant other Tommy Goodman, Kristin Eberly, Curran Trimmer, Corbin Trimmer and wife Sara, Aaron Trimmer and his significant other Lynn Hammacher, Ashley Trimmer, Brianna Adams and wife Karen, Nate Trimmer and significant other Nicole Downey, Marissa Huggins and husband Scott, Alyssa Trimmer and her significant other Joel Watts, Lauryn Schade and husband Nick, Tara Anderson and significant other Sam Samsel, Colleen Trimmer and significant other Matt Casner, Kirsten Trimmer and significant other Tray Rande; his many great-grandchildren; his two sisters: Joanne Kyper of Grantham, Jean Panza of Trinity, FL; several nieces and nephews; and his two beloved canine companions: Hunter and Thor.
Ted graduated from Mechanicsburg Area High School as part of the class of 1947 and has since served on the reunion committee. He retired in 1995 from Merchants & Businessman’s Mutual Insurance Group after many years working as the Vice President in charge of administrative services. Ted was the longest living member of Shepherdstown United Methodist Church, where he served on the administrative board. He was a member and past president of the Upper Allen Kiwanis, member of the Mechanicsburg Museum Association and was a lifetime member of the Central Pennsylvania Rock and Mineral club serving as president several times throughout the years.
Ted’s favorite pastimes included jewelry making, cutting and polishing rocks, and golf. He was a devoted family man who took immense pride in his family and enjoyed attending their various activities and events. Ted will be missed by his family and those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
All are welcome to join Ted’s family at his viewing on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a service beginning at 11:30 a.m. all at Shepherdstown United Methodist Church, 1934 S. York Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor John Mackey officiating. Ted’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the church immediately following the service. Burial will follow the reception in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens in Carlisle.
