Theresa Ann Hoffman

Theresa Ann (Raven) Hoffman, age 62, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
Theresa was born Saturday, March 2, 1963 to Marjorie "Marge" and Eugene "Chub" Raven in Woodstock, Il.
Theresa grew up in McHenry, Il., in a close-knit neighborhood, where she babysat many of the children who lived there. Shortly after graduating high school Theresa worked at Power Conversion Products in Crystal Lake, Il., where she met, and soon thereafter, married her forever sweetheart, Eric Hoffman, in October of 1986. In the early nineties they settled in Johnsburg Il, and began raising a family together.
Theresa was a natural caregiver and her family was her greatest passion. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked for a period as a job coach for Pioneer Center in McHenry, Il. Due to medical limitations and a desire to raise her own children, she began caring for neighborhood children out of her home. She was "TeeTee" to numerous children up until the end of the most recent school year, after which she and Eric were planning for retirement in Arizona. Her kind and loving nature was much appreciated by the families of those she cared for as well as by her family and friends.
Theresa and Eric found their church home at Joyful Harvest Church shortly after moving to Johnsburg. She was a faithful and active member for many years, attending worship, assisting in the kitchen, and running the nursery. Theresa took her faith journey seriously by spending time in prayer daily and in helping others, as Jesus instructs us to do.
Theresa took Psalm 100 to heart and was known to "make a joyful noise unto the Lord". She was loud and would use that to cheer you on, stand up for you, or even to let you know when she thought you were wrong (whether you wanted to hear it or not). She did not soften the truth, but was willing to admit when she was wrong and believed in forgiveness.
Friendship was a gift she cherished and she was truly blessed with some friendships lasting over 50 years! Although it was well known that Theresa would find it difficult to pass up a bargain, she was also adamant that she was not a hoarder! Theresa had a green thumb and took pride in her plants and flowers. She was proud to vote when she turned 18 and didn't miss an opportunity to do so. She
also encouraged others to register and vote, even driving (sometimes dragging) them to the polls.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents "Marge" and "Chub" Raven.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years Eric Hoffman, daughter Raven Hoffman (Fredrik Ekstedt Karpers), son Ericson "EJ" Hoffman (Kelli Bastian). Siblings: Luan (Doyle) Wright, Janet (James) Swerbenski, Eugene "Gener" Raven, Christopher (Dianne) Woerner, and Nikole Raven, niece Jadelyn, and a large circle of family and friends.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 4-7pm at Justen Funeral Home and Crematory 3700 Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, Il.
A memorial service will begin immediately following the visitation at 7pm, officiated by family friend Patti Roberts.
A celebration of Life will be held at the family home on June 13 beginning at 3pm. All are welcome.
