Theresa C (Coppus) Hooyman, Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great Great Grandmother, age 97, passed away peacefully January 17, 2026, ending her battle with debilitating dementia she lived with for the past few years. She was born March 4, 1928, and was 6 weeks shy of celebrating her 98th birthday. Her strong faith and love for her family defined her life as she raised eight children filling her heart with lots of love, laughter and joy.

She married Robert H Hooyman on November 22, 1947, in Little Chute, WI sharing 50 years together before Bob’s passing. Together they raised 8 successful children. Theresa was an active member of the St Anne’s Society at Holy Angles Parish. Her faith was always very important to her throughout her life. As the Domestic Engineer of the Hooyman household, she was a great cook, baker, and seamstress and was practiced at canning. She belonged to several bowling leagues and was very proud of being a member of the National 600 club. During the summer months, the family would pack up and head to the cottage. Paramount in those days were the many memories created and the time shared with family and friends. In retirement, She and Bob remained active in their Greenville community. She became a member of the Red Hatters in Appleton and the women’s church group. They were members of St Mary’s Catholic Church. She loved listening to gospel music and polkas.

Theresa is survived by her 6 daughters: Diane (John) Burmeister, New London; Sharon (Jim) Verkuilen, Little Chute; Char (Werny) Heyndrickx, Appleton; Debbie (Jeff) Dercks, Kaukauna; Gayle (Rick) Peters, Waupaca; Vickie Brihn, Cushing; daughter-in-law, Pamella Hooyman, Kaukauna; 21 grandchildren: Trudy, Troy, Tim and Travis Hooyman; Sara (Collar) and Becky (Elsholtz) Burmeister; Eric, Brett and Kristy (Jansen) Verkuilen; Brian and Reyne (Shearer) Heyndrickx; Jaime and Stacy Dercks; Jill (Heule), Russell and Marshall Hooyman; Jason, Adam and Matt Peters; LeAnn and Courtney (Villafuerte) Brihn; step granddaughter Ginger Diemel; 35 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; as well as sister-in-law: Florence Hooyman, Kimberly.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, sons Roger and Randy Hooyman; a granddaughter Celeste Hooyman, son-in-law Paul Brihn and daughter-in-law Lynn Hooyman. In addition, she was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Bertha Coppus, 2 brothers Clarence and Joseph Coppus and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

The family would like to express its gratitude for the love and concern given to Mom by the caregivers at The Landings in Kaukauna where she spent the last 2 years of her life, especially to Missy and Adrianne (who we called her Guardian Angel). Mom really got to trust these girls and Adrianne could put a smile on her face (and ours) every time she cared for her. Also a special thank you to the St. Croix Hospice caregivers for their wonderful care and comfort to our Mom and also to us. It takes a special person to do your job, and you do it well. A special thank you to Joe and Dawn Tuchscherer her wonderful neighbors in Greenville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday January 24, 2026, at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church N2385 Municipal Drive, Greenville. Friends and family may gather at the church from 9:00am until mass begins. Theresa will be laid to rest at St John’s Cemetery, Little Chute.
