Theresa Johnson Wright, passed away on December 8, 2025, in Sneads, Florida. Born on November 14, 1956, in Chattahoochee, Florida, Theresa's life was a testament to her unwavering love for her family and her steadfast commitment to her community.
Theresa was a 1974 graduate of Sneads High School, and it was in her beloved hometown of Sneads that she laid down her roots. After high school, she embraced the cherished roles of wife and mother. Theresa's later years saw her embarking on a fulfilling career with the State of Florida. Starting in 1985, she dedicated a commendable 25 years of service as a Correctional Officer at Apalachee Correctional Institution, retiring in 2010. Her work ethic and sense of duty were as much a part of her as her smile and warm embrace.
As a Christian, Theresa's faith was her cornerstone. It guided her through life's challenges and shone brightly in her every action. In retirement, Theresa found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was a great cook, a lover of shopping, and delighted in the playfulness of her pups. However, nothing compared to the joy she felt in spoiling her granddaughter, Hayden Marie Bullock, who was the light of her life.
Theresa's love extended beyond the walls of her home and into the community she held so dear. She was a friend to many, always ready with a kind word and a helping hand. Her life was an embodiment of compassion and generosity, leaving a mark on the hearts of those who knew her.
Family was the essence of Theresa's world. She is survived by her loving daughter, Terri Bullock, and her husband, Matthew; her treasured granddaughter, Hayden Marie Bullock; her devoted brother, Freddie Pruett, Sr, and his wife, Judy; her beloved nephews, Jason Pruett and his wife, Judy, and Freddie Gene Pruett and his wife, Elizabeth. Her legacy of love continues through the many extended family members and friends who had the honor of being part of her life.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Johnson and Mary Jean Brooks Johnson; her husband, Jimmy L. Wright; and stepson, Kevin Wright. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she carried their memory with her every day.
As we bid farewell to Theresa Johnson Wright, we celebrate a life rich with love, service, and unwavering kindness. She was the embodiment of the adage that the measure of one's life is the effect it has on others. Theresa lived fully, loved deeply, and leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire for generations to come. Her spirit will forever be cherished and remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
There will be a funeral service held on Monday, December 15, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM Central Standard Time at McAlpin Funeral Home.
