River Cook Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McAlpin Funeral Home - Sneads on Mar. 13, 2026.
River Carl Cook, a cherished and beloved soul, entered and departed this world on March 10, 2026, in Tallahassee, Florida. Though his time on earth was brief, his impact on the hearts of those who anticipated his arrival was profound and everlasting.

Born to Sabrina Michelle Cook and Lee Fletcher, River was a beacon of hope and joy for his family. He was lovingly awaited by his grandparents, David Cook, Katrina Cook, and Earl Lee Star who envisioned a future filled with laughter and love, as well as his great grandparents, Winford Cook, Artis Lott and Debra Hendrix. River's memory will be held dear by his aunts, Kayla Pridgen (Charles), Breanni Cook, Trisha Cook, Brenda Scarborough (Scottie), and Joyce Fletcher, as well as his uncles, Josh Miller, Scott Cook (Samantha), Tyler Cook, and David Cook, Jr. Though he never had the chance to meet them, River was preceded in death by his grandparent, Brandy Lee Fletcher, and great grandparents, Charlotte Lott and Steve Hendrix, who surely would have embraced him with the same warmth and affection.

River's story is a tender reminder of the fragility of life and the indelible mark a single soul can leave. In his short time, he was deeply loved and will forever be a symbol of unity and love for his family. As the poet Khalil Gibran once wrote, "For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one." River's journey, though it did not cross into the world as we know it, joined the vast sea of love that his family shares.

A graveside service to honor the memory of River Carl Cook will be held at Carpenter Cemetery on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 1:00 PM Central Time. The service will be officiated by Rev. Chad Roland and Rev. Steve Benefield, who will offer comfort and solace to those mourning the loss of this precious child.

As we say goodbye to River, we are reminded that every life, no matter how brief, is a gift that touches our souls and changes us forever. River Carl Cook, though he never took a breath in this world, was a beloved son, a cherished grandson, and a precious nephew. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and all who were touched by the promise of his life.
