Halfmoon/Clifton Park - On January 4th at Ellis hospital with family, Thomas Edgar Armbruster 79 went home to be with the lord, after a brief illness.
Born May 14th, 1946 in Michigan the son the late Edgar Ottomar and Katherine (Decker) Armbruster.
Thomas was survived by his loving wife, Linda Gabel Armbruster and his devoted sons and their wives Shawn (Catherine W. Stever) and Brian (Jacy L.) Armbruster and the apple of his eye, his grandson, Shawn A. Armbruster. Tom loved seeing all of baby Shawn’s antics on video chats.
He is survived by his brother Bob Armbruster, his sisters Ann Emery, Beverly Keller Skalski and Pamela Keller Perna. Brother and sister -in-law Walt & Diane Fredenburg.
Thomas was a loving husband, devoted father, father-in-law and grandfather. If you knew Tom you loved Tom. He had a quick wit and told corny one liner, bad dad, jokes. He brought laughter where ever he went along with a ton of pictures on his phone. His presence was steady, warm and cherished by family and friends alike.
Thomas proudly served his country, in the United States Army, beginning May 27th 1966. He dedicated more than two decades of military service and retired from Fort Drum January 27th 1988. His commitment to service continued when he joined the national guard, where he served from 2/28/1988 - 5/24/1997. Also Fort Drum. Following his military career, Tom continued a life of public service, working in New York State corrections from 1988 until his retirement in 2016. He had a strong sense of duty, integrity, and work ethic, defining every chapter of his professional life.
A special note remembering his very special Aunt Dot.
Thomas leaves behind a legacy of service, humor, kindness and unwavering love for his family. He will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for the way he made people feel welcomed, supported, and loved. He was always ready with a smile. He will be greatly missed.
