Thomas Robert Attix, Jr., age 64 of Dover, Delaware passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday April 2, 2024, in Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware because of a tragic and senseless hit-and-run motor vehicle accident while he was working. He was the loving husband of Donna (Gearhart) Attix.
Thomas was born on October 8, 1959, in Dover, Delaware to Thomas Robert Attix, Sr. and Carol (Clegg) Attix. He was the eldest of four children and lived in Dover his whole life.
Thomas was a dedicated and hard-working employee of Voshell Brothers Welding Inc. of Dover, Delaware where he served as a utility and construction worker. He loved life and was a joy to be with. Thomas was passionate about his story telling, making people laugh with his jokes and ensuring everyone had a good time. He especially loved nights out dancing with his beloved Donna after a good home cooked dinner.
Thomas enjoyed hunting, clamming, gardening, raising pigeons, ducks, and chickens. He also enjoyed walking barefoot on a sandy beach.
Besides his wife of 42 1/2 years and parents, Thomas is survived by his son Thomas Robert Attix, III.
Thomas is also survived by his brother; Richard (Koren) Attix, sisters; Mary Attix and Carol (Bobby) Walls.
Additionally, Thomas is survived by his brothers-in-law and their wives; Ronnie and Connie Gearhart, Jack and Pam Gearhart, Jerry and Linda Gearhart, Larry and Cheryl Gearhart and Dave and Barbara Gearhart, sisters-in- law and husbands; Maxine and Rosendo Mendez, Loretta and Jim Hazelton and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Thomas was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law; Mary and Earl Gearhart, brother-in-law; Wayne Coverdale, sisters-in-law; Mary Ann Coverdale and Yerma Pisapia.
He was a friend to all and will be greatly missed. He was one in a million and there will never be another guy like him.
Services will be held on Thursday, April 11th, visitation starting at 10:00 am and funeral service at 11:00 am at Faries Funeral Home, 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, DE 19977. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, Dover, Delaware.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Thomas Attix to the following: American Cancer Society, PO Box 669, New Castle, DE 19720; Disabled American Veterans, 183 South Street, Camden, DE 19934; or to your favorite local animal shelter.
