Thomas Joseph (Joe) Auberry died peacefully on January 29, 2025, at Franciscan Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was 75 years old.
Joe was born in Washington, Indiana to John and Ruth (Harter) Auberry on February 17, 1949. A 1966 graduate of Washington Catholic High School, Joe farmed his family's land and served in the Indiana Army National Guard.
He attended St. Simon's Catholic Church and participated in parish life. Joe was best known as the manager of Washington's Big Blue store, where for more than twenty years he always went the extra mile to serve customers and the community.
A passionate fan of Purdue athletics, he moved to West Lafayette, Indiana to be closer to his family and to the university.
Joe is survived by Toni (Fox) Auberry, his wife of 42 years, sons Eric (Jody) Auberry of West Lafayette and Brent (Natalie) Auberry of Indianapolis, granddaughters Amelia, Katie, and Madison and grandson Luke Marquette. He is also survived by eight siblings, sisters Mary Blubaum of Washington and Sharon Gladish of Petersburgh, and brothers Dan Auberry of Washington, Richard (Cheryl) Auberry of North Carolina, Tim (Amy) Auberry of Washington, Kenny (Pam) Auberry of Bicknell, John (Sherry) Auberry of Washington, and Tony Auberry of Washington.
Celebrations of Joe's life will take place in West Lafayette and Washington this spring. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Washington Catholic Schools' STEM program, 201 NE 2nd St.

Toni, I'm so very sorry for your loss! Joe was a very nice man, I remember him coming into St Anthony Healthcare where you worked for many years.. and he would volunteer his time talking with other gentleman and doing crafts or taking them wherever they wanted to go in the building.
He was a sweet man! Sending you my love, RIP Joe!
