Thomas L. Barnes, age 74 of Appleton, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023 at his home. He was born on June 4, 1948 in Stanwood, Iowa to the late Edward and Noreen (Horr) Barnes. Tom played football for Iowa State University and served his country in the National Guard for six years. He was a member of the Appleton Noon Lions and a volunteer at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton. Tom was an employee at Home Depot for several years, and enjoyed wooden boats and a good corny joke. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
He is survived by his children; Douglas Barnes, Daniel (Brooke) Barnes and Catherine (Andy) Kurzenberger, grandchildren; Brody, Bree and Ania. He is further survived by his brothers; Steven Barnes and James (Denise) Barnes, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents, and brother, David Barnes.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 in the Community Room at Wisconsin Veterans Village, 2919 W. Glenpark Dr., Appleton from 1:00pm until 2:30pm with a memorial service to follow. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, memorial donations in Tom's name can be made to either the Wisconsin Veterans Village Association or the Appleton Noon Lions Club.

Tom was a long time friend from college at Iowa State. We played football together there at ISU as well as roommates for a couple of years. I have great memories of out times together.Tom was a great friend.He will always be remembered.
