Andy Bean, a long-time resident of Lakeland, Florida and former PGA Tour player went home to be with the Lord at age 70 on October 13, 2023. Born March 13, 1953, in Lafayette, Georgia to Tommy and Margie Bean, Andy had a life full of loves: God and family first, followed by his friends, fishing, golf and the Gators.
Endearingly known as Big Andy, his faith formed a heart that made him memorable to many. He regularly attended Covenant Presbyterian Church when in town and rarely missed a Friday Night Fellowship with pastor Tom Randall while on Tour. Grateful for a God that loved and blessed him, Andy lived a life of warmth and generosity. He stopped to talk to kids on tour, helped countless young golfers, anonymously paid for the meals of policemen and firefighters in restaurants, raised money for the First Tee, and so much more. His wife, Debbie, daughters, Lauren, Lindsay, and Jordan, and their kids and spouses, as well as his sister, Tina and brother-in-law, Walter with their daughters and families were the greatest beneficiaries of his love and affection.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to: The First Tee of Lakeland, 1740 George Jenkins Blvd, Lakeland, FL 33815, Lighthouse Ministries, 215 E Magnolia St., Lakeland, FL 33801, Covenant Presbyterian Church (Missions) 210 Poppell Dr., Lakeland, FL 33813.
The memorial service will be held at Heritage Baptist Church at 4202 Pipkin Creek Road in Lakeland this Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 11am.
