Thomas "Tom" BeLusko
Date Of Birth: 04/12/1945
Date of Death: 12/26/2024
Thomas "Tom" Christopher BeLusko, Sr. peacefully passed away in his sleep on December 26, 2024, after a year long battle with pancreatic cancer. Tom was born in Portland, Oregon to Jospeh and Helen BeLusko on April 12, 1945. Growing up in NW Portland, he was proud to be a "Slabtown" citizen. Tom attended Cathedral Grade School and Benson High School. He then graduated from University of Portland with a degree in business.
After graduation, Tom enlisted in the Air Force and was accepted into Officer Candidate School. His first assignment was Lewiston, Montana. It was there that he met "the love of his life", Susan Van Metre. They were married in Montana on December 27, 1969. He was then transferred to Glendale, Arizona, where son, Tom Jr. was born. His final two-year tour of duty was in Korea.
In 1972, Tom completed his Air Force service and moved his family back to Portland. He then joined his father's business, the Jos. V. BeLusko Company, where he spent the remainder of his career. His outgoing personality and quick wit were an asset in a sales related business. In addition, his honest dealings with others earned him great respect in the industry. Many became friends that he treasured to the end.
Tom and Sue raised their son in the Cedar Hills neighborhood where they had many close neighbors. Following Sue's death in 2018, Tom relocated to the Claremont Community. That proved to be a good fit as he quickly established himself as an active member of the community, making many new friends.
Tom's Catholic faith was always at the center of his life, from the time he served as an altar boy to his years as a member of St. Pius X Church. He especially enjoyed access to daily mass and receiving communion in his time at Maryville.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Sue, and his parents, Joseph and Helen. He is survived by his son, Tom Jr. (Jennifer), granddaughter, Macy, grandson, Ryder, brothers; Joseph (Marsha), Charles (Kathleene), David (Colette), and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Maryville Nursing Care Center and Providence Hospice Care for all the comfort and care they gave to Tom during his illness.
A funeral Mass will be held for Tom at St. Pius X Church on January 11th at 11:00AM. A reception will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon Foundation, 4440 SW 148th Ave., Beaverton, OR 97078 or Providence St. Vincent Medical Foundation (Hospice), 9204 SW Barnes Road, Portland, OR 97225.

I met Tom at the Electronics Distribution Show along with brother Joe around 1975. Our friendships were bonded that day and have continued for almost 50 years. We all helped each other throughout the years and remained in contact even after retirements. Tom was a great guy and friend. It is difficult to believe he is no longer with us but the memories will be with me until we meet again.
Thank you to the BeLusko family for sharing Tom with all of us.
