Thomas Raymond Berghuis, known affectionately as Tom to his friends and family, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Toni and Trish House in Bay County, Michigan. Born on November 10, 1942, in Muskegon, Tom was the son of the late Raymond and Martha (Ferski) Berghuis.

Tom's life was one of commitment and love, beginning with his marriage to the former Patsy Mallory on April 11, 1964, in Ludington, Michigan. Their enduring partnership was blessed with two sons, Christopher (Janet) Berghuis and Scott Berghuis, and a granddaughter, Marissa Berghuis, who brought immense joy into his life.

A proud alumnus of Catholic Central High, Tom continued his education at Central Michigan University, where he earned his Bachelor's degree. Tom's professional career was marked by his dedication as an Industrial Engineer at General Motors, where he worked until his retirement.

Tom was deeply involved in his community. He served as a member of the Tittabawassee Township Fire Department for thirteen years. His civic engagement extended to the Bay County Sportsman Club, where he shared his passion for shooting trap and skeet with fellow enthusiasts. Tom's love for the outdoors was evident in his favorite pastimes, which included camping at Pigeon River Country, fishing, and traveling across the country.

In addition to his wife, Patsy; sons, Christopher (Janet) Berghuis and Scott Berghuis, and a granddaughter, Marissa Berghuis. Tom is also survived by his cousin, Don (Jeanie) Goheski and special friend Samantha Martinski.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no services. All of us at Ware Smith Woolever are honored the Berghuis family has entrusted us with the care of their loved one.
