Thomas Borst, a cherished father and beloved grandfather, passed away on March 17, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on April 30, 1945, in New Berlin, NY, Thomas lived a life filled with dedication, love, and laughter.
Throughout his career, Thomas held various jobs before establishing a lengthy tenure at Amphenol, where his skills and commitment were greatly valued. He demonstrated an admirable work ethic, but it was his character that truly shone through. Known for his infectious sense of humor, he loved to laugh and joke with friends, bringing joy to every gathering. His dedication to taking care of his family was evident in all aspects of his life.
Thomas also served his country with honor during the Vietnam conflict, enlisting in the army as an electrician and automotive specialist. His military service earned him a Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze service stars and a National Defense Service Medal, a testament to his bravery and commitment to duty.
Outside of his professional and military endeavors, Thomas had a passion for nature, which he expressed through gardening and landscaping. These hobbies allowed him to experience the beauty of the world around him, and he often took great pride in the fruits of his labor.
Thomas leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter Amanda Fleurant (Borst), son Randy, and his beloved grandchildren Austin Ray, Madison Ray, and Kiran Borst. He is preceded in death by his sister Charlene Gibbs, brother Richard Borst, and his parents Queenie and Ervin Borst.
Thomas Borst will be remembered for his warmth, his laughter, and the love he shared with those who knew him. His favorite poem is "Nothing Gold can Stay" by Robert Frost. He leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and friends, and his spirit will continue to be felt in the memories they hold dear.
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
