Thomas A. Brahler, Jr., 57, of Massillon, OH passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 23, 2024. Thom was born on November 29, 1967, in Canton, Ohio to Thomas and Sandra (Gibbs) Brahler.
Thom graduated from Louisville High School in 1986, then joined the National Guard before enlisting in the US Navy in 1989. He served in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm before being honorably discharged. Thom joined the Canton Fire Department in 1993 before transferring to the Stow Fire Department, where he served on the Dive/Rescue Team, then retiring as a Lieutenant in 2016. When Thom wasn’t doting on his Amy, he enjoyed hunting with his boys in Ohio or fishing with them in the Florida Keys where he split time the past 8 years. He raised Dane, Ben, and Luke to be great men who respect their country, teaching them what true chivalry means. Those close to Thom know what a true gentleman he was. His love and dedication to his family was unmatched and admired. Though he may not have had his phone with him, he always had a pen, pocketknife, and handkerchief for anyone in need. He would help anyone with anything because being a gentleman was who he was.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife, Amy (Williams) Brahler, with whom he shared 33 loving years of marriage; father, Thomas A. Brahler (Lynne Biery); sons, Dane T. (Tasia) Brahler, Ben T. (Megan Weir) Brahler and Luke T. (Amiah Turley) Brahler; sister, Sara (Paul) Braskett; brother-in-law, Paul (Debbie) Williams; sister-in-law, Debbie (Mike) Peeper; and best friends, Marvin & Renee Lamielle, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and many great friends.
Thom was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra K. Brahler and brother, Jeffrey V. Brahler.
The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 2-5 pm with a Memorial Service at 5 pm. Gathering to follow at Faith Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Massillon Education Association / Scholarship Fund or SFD 1662/Steve Wood Memorial Scholarship.
