Thomas Lee Broughton, age 69, of Marion, OH, passed away at the Marion General Hospital on January 13, 2026. Thomas was born in West Virginia to the late Claude Broughton and Lula Mae Williams on June 10, 1956. On September 2, 1975, Thomas would marry the love of his life Janet Broughton, and they would remain married for 51 years.

In his early years, He was in the United State Marine Corps for 6 months and shortly after he was honorably discharged. Thomas worked at Marion Power Shovel as a Security Guard and Marion General Hospital in Maintenance. Before retiring, he worked at Ohio Galvanizing for over 4 years as a general laborer. In his free time, Thomas enjoyed watching WWE and spending time with his dogs Rascal and Chloe. He loved plants, gardening and would also make time for fishing. Above all, he loved his family.

Left to cherish the memory of Thomas are his wife, Janet Broughton, son, Dwyane Broughton, brother, Everett (Shy) Broughton, sister, Diane (Sam) Meade, his 2 grandchildren Gaige Broughton and Cassie Smith along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Donald and Floyd Broughton and his sisters, Barbara Douglas and Dorothy Roush, and nephew, Johnny Douglas.

Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the Boyd Funeral Home from 12pm to 1pm. The funeral service begins at 1pm with Dale Baker officiating. He will be laid to rest at Chapel Heights Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or to the family in their time of need. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family of Thomas Lee Broughton during these hard times.
