Thomas Cecil "Tom" Brown

Thomas (Tom) Cecil Brown of Conyers, GA, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the age of 84. He was born in Spartanburg, SC and he grew up on a farm in Laurens, SC. He graduated from Laurens County High School. During high school, Tom met Martha Paslay Milam, who would later become his wife. He attended Clemson University and graduated from Eriskine College with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in mathematics. He accepted a management position with Southern Bell (AT&T) in Atlanta, GA. After 29 years, he retired from AT&T. Post retirement, he worked at various sporting goods stores, prepared taxes, and sold law enforcement products.
Growing up, Tom loved working on the farm with his brothers, parents, uncle and aunt. As an adult, Tom loved being in the GREAT OUTDOORS – hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping. He also enjoyed playing golf, flying private planes, and volunteering with Indian Guides and Habitat for Humanity. He served in churches where he lived from Atlanta through Decatur and into Conyers. Tom was a loving and supportive husband and father. He loved being with people, such as his Friday night supper group and being a member of Clan Paisley.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, Thaddeus Cecil Brown and Mary Alyce Hutchinson Brown. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Martha Paslay Milam Brown. Tom is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Martha Alyce Brown Suggs, and son-in-law, Charles (Chuck) Suggs, along with their children, Thaddeus Daniel Suggs and Charles Thomas Suggs. He is also lovingly remembered by his son, Thaddeus Henry Brown, and daughter-in-law, Wendy Brown, and their children, Gallean Glacier (Gigi) Brown and Mason Thomas Brown. Tom is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Byron Brown and Alice Brown, Dr. Cecil Brown and Betsy Brown, and Mary Leona Milam Moses, as well as eight nieces and nephews who cherish his memory.
A service celebrating his life will be held at Scot Ward Funeral Services 699 American Legion Road, Conyers, GA 30012 on Saturday, Aug 30, 2025. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:30 with service starting at 3:00. The burial service will be held at New Prospect Baptist Church 4996 Highway 221S, Laurens, SC 29360 on Sunday, Aug 31, 2025, at 2:00. Donations can be made to New Prospect Baptist Church.
