Thomas Joseph Bucci

Thomas Joseph Bucci, VMD, MS, PhD DACVP, Colonel, US Army Veterinary Corps, (Retired), passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, after a full life of 90 years. He was born on Rocky Hill Road in Smithfield, Rhode Island, at home, on a small, rented farm, on July 21, 1934, to Frank Bucci and Rose Savastano Bucci, the second of seven boys including the late Frank A. Bucci, PhD, Peter P. Bucci, the late Paul E. Bucci, the late Michael J. Bucci, Joseph J. Bucci, and James R. Bucci.
Thomas is loved and survived by his wife, Trudy Lyn Bucci of Mountain Home, Arkansas and his four children, Deborah Anne Bucci-Muchmore of Rohnert Park, California, Laurie June Smith of Brookings, Oregon, Robert Thomas Bucci of Owasso, Oklahoma and James Dale Edinger Bucci of Bluffton, South Carolina; his four grandchildren; five great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
During his life, Thomas was a leader, counselor, and educator to many, a confidant to world leaders and an esteemed and well-published scientist and researcher. As a person, he had a playful wit, balanced with his ever present genius. He was caring and compassionate with a softness underneath his tough shell that some came to know. He will forever be remembered for his unassuming nature and his profound impact on the lives he touched. May he rest in peace, with mobility and without pain. A Celebration of Life will be held at Conner Family Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 2833 Hwy 62 West in Mountain Home, Arkansas at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 24, 2025.
