On September 13th, 2023 Thomas Stephen Bullock, known by friends and family as Tom, or Tommy-B, took his final breaths, surrounded in care by those who loved him. In the days that followed, the skies grew dark, emulating the sorrow felt by all who loved him, and rain cleansed the beautiful state he called home.
Tom was born on December 18th, 1968 to Nick and Susie Bullock. He grew up in Boulder, Colorado with his older brother Richard Bullock. He attended Fairview High School where he was ever popular. His profound loyalty can be exemplified in the relationships he formed in high school that he carried with him through the remainder of his life. One of those dear friendships was with his first wife Lorraine, with whom he brought to the world his sons, Christopher Jeffrey Bullock and Tyler Stephen Bullock.
Tom was inherently quite reserved, but drew people in with his electric smile, his ocean eyes, and his infectious laugh. Ever charming and delighted to make new acquaintances, Tom reveled in a good time with good friends. This is the very way he met and married Anne, the mother of his daughters, Caitlyn Marie Bullock and Madelyn Lane Bullock.
Years later, Tom reconnected with one of his lifelong friends, Jodi, who became the love of his life, and they married.Tom assumed the role of stepfather to her two boys, Jayson and Jared. Tom and Jodi conquered many notable adventures together; adopting their sweet dog, Rascal, buying their home, a little yellow ranch style house where they had friends and family over without hesitation. They welcomed several grandchildren including Jacob, Presley, Rogan, Sam, and Prudence, into the world. His family continued growing larger and larger, but his philosophy was, the more, the merrier.
Tom was a devoted father, partner, and friend to all who touched his life. Perhaps one of the best ways to exemplify his keen devotion is in his work ethic. Tom worked in collision repair for the large majority of his life, often sacrificing his health and time in an effort to get the job done. Although professional networking wasn't really a priority for him, he made connections throughout the span of his career that quickly surpassed professional acquaintances and became genuine friendships. A facet of his personality that never wavered was his openness to welcoming new people into his life and loving them perpetually.
Tom loved to be outdoors, whether he was playing a game of golf, maintaining his yard, taking his children for a day of fun at a waterpark, or just sitting on a patio soaking in the sunshine. He loved to cook, often talking about wanting to open his own restaurant to share his creations with everyone. Although that didn't happen, you can be sure that he cooked for those he loved often, and loved doing it. That said, what he enjoyed most was socializing. Tom loved concerts, ball games, taking his family to lunch, or dinner. He found unmatched comfort in the presence of others, even the most mundane times could feel like a party to those who found themselves in the company of Tommy-B.
Although Tom never found himself to be in the throes of remarkable wealth, he was a generous man, who often sacrificed for those he loved and for strangers. He was always willing to help out, on more than one occasion giving strangers the shirt off his back or the shoes from his feet. His heart was so big and one of his deepest desires was to make hardship or sorrow at least a little more bearable for others.
Tom was 54 at the time of his death. A life cut short, but lived to the fullest and then some. One might ask, "how do I carry on his legacy?" The answer is simple. Sing your favorite songs as loud as you can, as often as you can, be a friend to all, give generously, and love without limits.
He would tell you that what you put into the world has a way of coming back to you, and he filled the world with so much love, and was loved in turn, by so many.
Tom is survived by his wife, Jodi Bullock, his mother, Susie Bullock, his brother, Rick Bullock, and his children, Christopher Jeffery Bullock, Tyler Stephen Bullock, Caitlyn Marie Bullock, Madelyn Lane Bullock, and stepsons Jayson and Jared Dupre. Also he is survived by grandchildren, Rogan Bullock, Presley Chenoweth, Samson Chenoweth, and Prudence Bullock.
Tom is preceded in death by his father, Nicholas Lee Bullock, and his grandson Jacob James Bullock.
A Celebration of Life for Tom will be held at: St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Boulder CO from 1-5 pm Saturday October 14th 2023.
The address is: 4215 Grinnell Ave. Boulder CO 80305
