It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Zachary Thomas Marriner on October 16, 2024, in Denver, Colorado at the age of 32. Zachary (Zach) was born on April 11, 1992, in Boulder, Colorado to William and Maryellen (Fitzgerald) Marriner.
Zachary graduated from Fairview High School in 2011 and earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado in 2015. He was then off to San Francisco where he joined the tech world as a member of the sales team of Okta Corporation. Zach loved his time in the city by the bay, jogging through Dolores Park and constantly searching for the best burrito in town. After two years he returned to Colorado to be closer to family and friends.
Zach was a kind-hearted, gentle, thoughtful and playful soul. He was caring and aware of the needs and feelings of those around him...always the first to jump in after a meal and help in the kitchen.
It was a delight to give Zach a gift--he was so genuinely grateful. As a young boy he would unwrap the corner of a present just enough to see what was inside and immediately rush across the room to give the biggest hug to the giver.
Zach was an excellent athlete. He was a two-year starter as a defenseman for the Fairview Knights. He loved to run and hike and was dedicated to his weightlifting regimen at his residential gym. In addition to his athletic prowess, he had a creative side and was a gifted artist from a young age.
Zach was an avid football fan with a particular love for his Colorado Buffaloes and Denver Broncos. He spent many a Saturday and Sunday supporting both the triumphs and tribulations of his favorite teams.
While he never had one of his own, Zach was a lover of dogs and was quick to volunteer to take care of his brother's dog, Alonzo, when the need arose.
Zach was a charmer...a stylish dresser who took pride in his appearance...with good reason as he was a cute boy and an even more handsome man. He had a twinkle in his eye, an engaging smile and an infectious laugh. He was beautiful both inside and out.
Zachary was predeceased by his beloved mother, Maryellen, in 2010.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, William and Sherry Marriner; sister and brother-in-law, Katherine (Katie) and Tristan Wright; brother and sister-in-law (to be), John (Johnny) Marriner and Julie Weintraub; nephews and niece, Crosby, Tillman and Charlie Wright; and many stepsiblings, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Zach touched all who knew him. He is deeply missed and will live in our hearts forever.
Now reunited, Zach and Maryellen find peace in each other’s presence, sharing memories and moments long awaited, free from earthly pain and sorrow. Together they are watching over us, their bond unbroken by time or distance.
