Thomas Burkhart

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas W. Burkhart, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Thomas, 80, of Navarre, passed away on November 11, 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones following a long battle with cancer. Born September 3, 1945, he was a son to the late Henry and Neva Grim Burkhart of Bolivar. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Junior, Robert, John and Ray Burkhart; sisters, Esther Simon and Grace Renner. Tom attended Tuscarawas Valley High School. On June 13, 1964, he married Mary Jane Shulty to whom he was lovingly married for 61 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Tammy (Rene) Bettio of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Tracy (Donnie) Tucker of Beach City, Ohio. He was a proud grandfather to Breanna (Mitch) Long, Garrick Tucker, Clara Bettio and Milena Bettio; along with two great grandchildren, Tucker and Beckett Long; and one sister, Ruth McCaulley. Tom worked at The Timken Company for 35 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Bolivar United Methodist Church. Tom enjoyed trap shooting, wood working, gardening, creating gourd bird feeders, metal detecting, gifting at Christmas and was known to never pass up a good garage sale. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Bolivar United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Fish officiating. The family will be greeting family and friends at the church from 10:00 am to 11:30 am with services following from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Burial will be at Ft. Laurens Cemetery in Bolivar. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to support patients and their loved ones at The Aultman Cancer Center.
