Thomas Busche Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crawford Family Funeral & Cremation Service - Edmond on Jan. 16, 2026.
Thomas Joseph Busche, known fondly to friends and family as Tom, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, at the age of 87, in Edmond, Oklahoma. Born on December 12, 1938, in Okarche, Oklahoma, Tom was a beacon of strength, intelligence, and humor to all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife Peggy Busche, his daughter Christina Hicks and her husband Chris, his son Jason Busche and his wife Amanda, his brother George Busche, sisters Martha Brand and Mary Butt with her husband Ed, and numerous cousins, friends, and neighbors. His legacy continues through the lives of his cherished grandchildren, Skylar, Jalyn, and Duncan. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rosie Busche.

Tom's life was marked by a commitment to education and personal growth. After graduating from St. Mary's High School in Ponca City in 1958, he continued his studies at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas, and later at Central State College in Edmond, Oklahoma. His dedication to learning laid a strong foundation for a successful career.

A respected figure in the professional community, Tom's career spanned over four decades. He began at the First National Bank & Trust Company from 1961 to 1968, then moved to Computer Management Corp from 1969 to 1971. The bulk of his career was spent at Hertz, where he worked from 1971 until his retirement in 2001. Throughout his career, Tom was known for his dependability, loyalty, and extreme capabilities.

Tom's interests were as varied as they were passionate. He found solace and joy in caring for his property, always with a new building project on the horizon. His hands were rarely still, and he was often referred to as "handy" by those who knew him well. A voracious reader, he loved to start his day with the newspaper and a challenging crossword puzzle, a testament to his unending desire for knowledge.

Those who knew Tom will remember his incredible sense of humor. He had a unique ability to find the funny in the everyday, and his laughter was infectious. His intelligent and funny nature made him a delightful company.

Tom Busche lived a life full of dedication, love, and laughter. His absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will be cherished and his legacy will live on in the hearts of many. As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, we take comfort in the knowledge that his was a life well-lived, full of purpose and joy.
