Thomas Hilton Cagle, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed peacefully on May 24, 2025, at the age of 82, in Buford, Georgia. Born on April 14, 1943 in Atlanta, Georgia, Thomas lived a life rich with love, labor, and the enduring bonds of family.
A dedicated craftsman, Thomas retired from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, where he devoted over 34 years to his work as a skilled wood craftsman. His meticulous workmanship reflected both his passion for quality and his unwavering commitment to excellence. Even in retirement, Thomas remained industrious-always busy with projects involving grading, tractors, or tending to his gardens.
He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially red snapper fishing, a favorite pastime that brought him peace and connection with friends and family.
Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Annie Ruth Cagle, whose memory remained a constant source of comfort. He was also predeceased by his parents, Herman and Ila Cagle, step-son, Jeffrey Phillips, and nine siblings, underscoring the strong family roots that helped shape his life.
He is survived by his sister, Linda Montez Moore. His granddaughter Jan Hector; his stepson, Tommy Phillips; and a host of extended family and dear friends. Thomas's life will be fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to know his kindness, generosity, and hard working spirit.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, in the Peachtree Corners Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory beginning at 11:00 am, followed by a service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at North Atlanta Memorial Park.
