Thomas Calo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hope Memorial Chapel - Biddeford on Dec. 14, 2025.
Thomas "Tom" Calo, 56, of Biddeford, Maine passed away unexpectedly on December 10, 2025, doing what he loved most-caring for his family. A man of endless curiosity and resourcefulness, Tom was known for his ability to fix anything and his determination to master whatever he set his mind to. If he didn't know something, he learned it and mastered it. There was truly nothing he couldn't do-and he did it with confidence and usually with a story to share.
Tom lived life with enthusiasm and a playful spirit. He adored his wife, Amy, and never missed a chance to make her feel cherished-whether it's bringing her morning coffee, planning their next adventure, or sharing their love for their Boston Terriers, Beau and Luke. He often told Amy, "Thank you for marrying me," a simple phrase that reflected his deep gratitude for the life they shared.
Together, they enjoyed countless mornings at the beach, cruises to tropical islands, trips to Florida to visit family and time making memories with their grandchildren. Tom's face would light up whenever he spoke about travel or the dream home he and Amy had just purchased in Cape Coral, Florida in November. He could spend hours reliving their adventures through photos and stories.
The holiday season always brought out Tom's love of baking cookies and decorating-cherished traditions that began with his mom, which he embraced with enthusiasm and shared generously with those around them. He had an ever-growing list of passions: snowmobiling, fishing, boating, ham radios, antique shopping, and ancestry research with his stepson, Cameron. He was an avid collector of DVD's and could spend hours watching his favorites. He would spend countless hours every day with his friends at "The Boat Shop." A meticulous planner and partner in fun, Tom also embraced spontaneity-especially when it came to his beloved grandchildren, who he looked forward to spoiling and sharing old traditions and creating new ones.
Born in Alexandria, Louisiana and educated in Connecticut, Tom proudly served in the U.S. Army before joining the Connecticut State Police, and later retired as a Connecticut State Trooper. When he met Amy, the love of his life, everything fell into place. They married in 2016, and Tom embraced her four children with open arms and an open heart. In them, he found the missing piece and spent every day enjoying the life he and Amy were building together. Although he was starting a new life with Amy, he always reached out and cared for his stepsons from his previous marriage.
Tom will be remembered for his sharp mind, his unwavering loyalty, and his devotion to family and friends. His legacy is one of strength, love, and resilience-he stood tall with pride, cared deeply, and never backed down from life.
He is survived by his wife Amy Calo of Biddeford, Maine his sister Lynne Goulet and her husband Bill Goulet and his niece Alexandra Goulet all of St. Augustine, Florida. He is also survived by his six stepchildren Amber (Glen) Googins, Megan (Tyler) Guay, Lydia Pelletier and husband Sebastian Antoine, Cameron Pelletier, Tyler (Julia) Trask, Travis Chase and grandchildren Bryar Googins, Rowen Guay, Caleb and Hayden Trask.
He was predeceased by his father Thomas Louis Calo, his mother, Joyce Calo Zeman and many grandparents who he was very fond of.
Services will be held Wednesday, December 17th 4pm-7pm at Hope Memorial Chapel in Biddeford, Maine, with a burial ceremony at St. Joseph's Cemetery on Thursday, December 18th at 10 a.m. Military honors will be rendered in recognition of Tom's proud service to his country.
