Thomas E Canedy, 78, passed away April 21, 2024, in the presence of his devoted wife, Deborah (Brach) Canedy and brother in law Alan Fontana. Born in Adams, October 9, 1945, he was the son of the late Thomas H. and Florence (Yott) Canedy. Tom was predeceased by his loving daughter Julie Canedy in 2018. Tom was a US Army veteran during the Vietnam War retiring as a captain. He worked as a West Springfield Police Officer for 13 years and then as an inspector for the TSA for 10 years. Tom enjoyed riding his Harley, traveling, and spending time with family and friends in South Carolina. In addition to his loving wife Debbie, he leaves his son, Thomas Jr and his wife Taunja and their children, Hannah, Bailey, and Rachael of Woodstock,CT, his son, Todd and his family of Waterford, ME. He will be dearly missed by his cherished granddaughter, Juliana Canedy, and many nieces and nephews and his devoted lifelong friend Gary Forney (Jane), his dear friend Kevin Keeley and dear TSA friend Jim Martocchio (Rene). Military Honors will be held Monday April 29, 2024, at 3PM at the Mass Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. The Toomey-O'Brien Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family would like to thank Beacon Hospice for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, contributions to his granddaughter Juliana Canedy's educational fund would by greatly appreciated. I knew Tom as a friend for many years . He was nice to talk to about our mutual love of animals and he was just a nice person to talk to in general.
