Cannon Funeral Home - Colonie (Albany)COLONIE – Thomas A. Catino, 77, of Colonie, passed away suddenly on Friday, March 27, 2026 at St. Peter’s Hospital. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Anthony and Margaret Casey Catino.
Tom served in the US Army from 1968 through 1970. He enjoyed a twenty-year career with the Town of Colonie Police Department, retiring as a Lieutenant and Director of Communications. He then started a consulting business for building communications/radio systems for police, fire and EMS in the tri-state area, and was instrumental in the implementation of Albany County 911. Tom was a life member and past Atlantic Chapter President of APCO International. He was a bowling enthusiast who personally coached his daughter from the age of 8 until she graduated high school, and continued coaching with Colonie High School Girls bowling team, and the local junior bowling program. Tom was a lover of cars, especially his 1965 GTO. He enjoyed golfing, and was a true friend who was always willing to lend a hand.
He is the beloved husband of fifty-four years to Judy Skicke Catino. Tom is the devoted father of Jennifer Catino (Karl Schneibel). He is the brother of Kate(Dan) Arnold. Tom is the grandfather of Kourtney (Zac) Idzik and Brittany Schneibel. He is the great grandfather of Talia Idzik. Tom is also survived by several brother and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Tom’s family on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 4 to 7 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (st.jude.org), or the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society (mohawkhumane.org).
