Thomas Costello

Thomas J. Costello passed peacefully on Tuesday, April 29th, surrounded by his family. Born in 1939 to Thomas and Julia Costello, Tom was raised in Brooklyn with his siblings Ann Marie, Helen, John, Margaret, Sheila and Kevin. In 1959 Tom was ordained a Redemptorist priest and served with the order for
over a decade. Tom then served as Personnel Officer for Ulster County, NY for nearly 25 years. Life after retirement included jobs such as ski instructor, after school program coordinator, limo driver and volunteer chaplain. Tom was married to Sally Shields from 1984 until her death in 2017. Tom is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Julia, his brothers John and Kevin and his twin sister Ann Marie. He is survived by his beloved fiancé and companion Patricia, his sisters Helen, Margie and Sheila along with many nieces,
nephews, great-nieces and nephews along with many friends. Tom had the Irish gift of gab and was a friend to everyone he met. He was a master storyteller and left us with many treasured, and possibly enhanced, tales from the past. He titled himself "Abuelo" and was so loving and patient and the
most amazing grandpa to his nieces and nephews of all ages. He planned many adventurous, fun outings for them. They thought Uncle Tommy was awesome and they were not wrong. A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, April 30 at 11:30am at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Naples, Florida. The family invites you to participate virtually if you desire.
