Thomas Henry Culhane IV

Thomas Henry Culhane IV, age 81, of Spring Grove, passed away suddenly on December 28, 2025, at Condell Medical Center. He was born in Rockford, IL, on Sunday, January 23, 1944, to Dr. Thomas H. Culhane Jr. and Clara (Holomany) Culhane. He spent his early years in Rockford, where he was raised in a well-respected and distinguished family, with several members devoted to the medical profession. At the tender age of 10, Thomas experienced the profound loss of his father. This life-changing event inspired his mother to relocate the family to Montana, where she courageously opened a dress shop that became a successful and well-known business. Thomas went on to graduate from Red Lodge High School in Montana. Following high school, Thomas proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country faithfully until his honorable discharge.
In 1965, while working on a dude ranch in New York State, Thomas met Anna Marie who was vacationing at the ranch. After taking her phone number, he soon called to ask her on a date-and as they say, the rest is history. The couple was united in marriage on June 23, 1968, in Brooklyn, NY, sharing 57 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love, devotion, and countless memories. Thomas retired from North Shore School District 112 after working 15 years as a stationary engineer. In his free time, Thomas found great joy in the outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing with his buddies at Twin Lakes, Camp Lake, and Lake Geneva, where camaraderie, laughter, and peaceful moments on the water meant everything to him.
Survived by the love of his life, Anne; children, Lauren (John Weigand), Thomas (Keri) Culhane V; grandchildren, Aidan, Colin, Delaney, Mckenna, Avery, Thomas VI; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded by his parents; 3 sisters, 2 brothers.
Friends and family may meet for committal prayers on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 10:45 a.m. in the mausoleum at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 8616 W State Rd, Winnebago, Illinois.
