Tom Curran was born on December 6, 1953 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and was the firstborn of his siblings. Tom passed peacefully in his home in Weeki Wachee, Florida on October 3, 2024.
Tom worked in broadcasting since graduating college in California, first working in radio and then moving to television. Tom worked many years as a color commentator for the Sacramento Kings basketball team, and as a television newscaster for channel 13 news in Sacramento, California. He later completed his career in Florida with Tampa Bay's Fox 13 morning news team. Tom was an avid skier and sports fan, especially hockey, and enjoyed coaching kids hockey. Tom was a devoted Christian, father and husband.
He was preceded by his father Thomas H. Curran Sr., his brother Rick Gowland, his sister Jane Gowland, and his step father Richard Gowland.
He is survived by his wife Lucita Curran (nee Riedstra), his daughter Jyllian Curran, his mother Jean Gowland (nee Mercer), his step mother June Scott, and his brothers and sisters Kathy Smith, Deron Curran, Wanda Richter (Sean), Diane Gowland, and Glen Gowland. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
