Thomas "Tommy" Dorsey

Thomas Henery "Tommy" Dorsey, 63, of Hutto, Texas passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 2022 in Round Rock, Texas. Tommy was born in Austin, Texas on March 3, 1959 to William H and Emmie Jean Dorsey. He married Sherry Lynn Perry on March 21, 1981. They were blessed with 3 children, Michael, Amanda and James. To know Tommy was to love him, as he had the gift to never meet a stranger and could talk to anyone and everyone.
Tommy began his career at the young age of 16 in the water conditioning business, it was his first and only job. He started working for Matt-David Water Conditioning, the only water conditioning company in Round Rock at the time. Tommy's hard work and strong work ethic helped him advance in the company at a rapid pace. He remained with the company when Matt-David sold out to Kinetico Corporation in 1989. Tommy started Tommy Dorsey Water Conditioning in 1993 and grew the business into the most successful water conditioning company in Central Texas. To say he was well known in the water conditioning business would be an understatement.
One of Tommy's favorite pastimes was working on and restoring his many cars. He never passed up an opportunity to take you to his shop and show off his cars. One of his favorites is his fully restored 67 Camaro, purchased by his father in 1967 from Henna Chevrolet. His newest addition is his 2021 C8 Corvette. He was known to give many a ride and even letting a few drive. Tommy always loved his long weekends to Vegas with Sherry, a trip the two of them took often. But what brought Tommy the greatest joy was being PAPA to his grandchildren Mia, Megan, Jocelynn, Jake and Logan. He went out of his way to bring a smile to their faces, evident by the huge ship he had constructed in the backyard.
Tommy's life ended before we were ready but the time we had with him was impactful on many of us. Tommy leaves behind his wife of 41 years Sherry Dorsey; son Michael Thomas Dorsey and wife Melissa of Hutto, TX; daughter Amanda Lynn Dorsey and Richie Stasney of Taylor, TX; son James Stephen Dorsey and wife Lisa of Granger, TX; brothers Billy Dorsey of Grants Pass OR, Rodney Whitmore and wife Nancy of 29 Palms CA; sisters Sarah Cantrell of Tyler, TX, Betty Wallace and husband Tim of Garden Valley CA; mother in law Betty Perry of Taylor, TX; his 5 precious grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.
Tommy is preceded in death by his father, William H Dorsey; mother, Emmie Jean Dorsey; sister, Grace Anne Cummins; brother, Gene Dewayne Dorsey; father in law, Charles W Perry and nephew, Blake Perry.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Beck Funeral Home, 15709 Ranch Road 620, Austin, TX 78717.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Beck Funeral Home
Burial will take place at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 N Interstate Hwy 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
