Thomas Doxsee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Affordable Cremation Services of New York - Central Islip on Feb. 28, 2026.
Thomas Howard Doxsee, 78, of Holbrook, NY, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, after an extended and arduous health struggle, surrounded by his loving family.

Tom was born October 20, 1947, to Harry and Kathleen (nee Colleary) in Bay Shore, NY. In 1965, he graduated from Bay Shore High School, where he excelled on the Cross Country team. In 1967, he was drafted into the United States Army, and was awarded a Purple Heart medal for injuries received in combat in Vietnam. Decades later, in 2012, he was among the local Purple Heart recipients honored as Grand Marshals at the 2012 Bay Shore/Brightwaters St. Patrick's Day parade.

In 1967, he married the love of his life, Nancy (nee Stuhler), who survives.

Following his military service, Tom worked at Northrup Grumman for many years. He later left, finding success in the private sector, and living his version of retirement.

He enjoyed spending time at his residence in Kismet, NY, golfing (especially on the beach), running, singing, and was remarkable in finding ways of building and repairing anything without spending too much money. Above all, he absolutely loved sharing time with his family.

In addition to his beloved Nancy, he is survived by his devoted and loving children Tom (Sandra) Doxsee, of East Yaphank, NY; Michelle Doxsee; Paul (Jen) Doxsee; and Denise Doxsee (Cam Risner), all of Sayville, NY.

Missing their Papa are grandchildren Maggie, Brett, Sam, Cate, Green, Ben, Justin, Brody, Sadie, and Olivia.

Tom is also survived by his brothers Mike Doxsee, of Sayville, NY; Dan (Jackie) Doxsee, of Holtsville, NY; and his sister, Kathy (Teri) Doxsee of Alexandria,VA; along with numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and other extended family and cherished loved ones.

He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Harry and John Doxsee, and his granddaughter, Emma Doxsee.

There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family would kindly request a donation to Emma's Helping Heart (www.emmashelpingheart.org), or a charity of their choosing, in memory of Tom.
