Thomas Duffy (a/k/a Duff, Buster), age 70, of Cedar Lake, IN passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Arleen; three children Tommy (Teresa) Duffy, Jeff (Michelle) Duffy, and Kristen (Kelly) Duffy; six grandchildren Kyle Reynolds, Sarah (John) Goings, Tommy Duffy, Lilly Duffy, Chelsea Carter, and Jake Carter; and brother Mike Duffy. He was preceded in death by his father James, mother Marion, brother Jim, and granddaughter Hailey.
Tom was a devoted husband, father, friend, Marine Corps veteran, industrial steel mill electrician, eBay early adopter, entrepreneur, shrewd negotiator, and lover of all good deals earning him the nickname Coupon Tom. He was a no-nonsense guy who had a way with words that either made you laugh or shake your head. He was comical and insightful. He always had a Diet Coke within arm's reach and loved eating desserts, especially Wendy's Frosties, Hollywood cheesecake, and anything topped with Cool Whip. Tom's favorite pastime was wheeling and dealing in precious metals and collectibles.
Friends may greet the family from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Burden Funeral Home located at 12901 Wicker Ave, Cedar Lake, IN. A funeral service with military honors will follow at 12 p.m. with Tom's brother-in-law, Eugene Kiepura, officiating.
