Tommy passed away peacefully at home, where he wished to do so on August 13, 2023.
He fought a long battle with liver disease and liver cancer. He had many doctors and caregivers along the way, but I wish to give a special thanks to Dr. Krishna Singh and Dr. Anil Veluvolu, and in the end Amedisys Hospice for their dedication and kindness in his care.
He was preceded in death by his father Thomas F. Dupree Jr, mother Mable Lou Nelson, and daughter Sherry Dupree.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Nancy; daughter Kim Hanson; step-sons Donald Weathersby II and Wesley Weathersby; siblings Reggie, Donna, Johnny, Mark, Danny, Darrin, and Dawn; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two more on the way.
He loved the boy scouts growing up and was proud to have earned the attainment of Eagle Scout. Tommy served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and served a short time on the USS Lexington CV/CVA 16, aka the "Blue Ghost" as a corpsman. He retired as a Lt. from the Shreveport Police Department in 1987. Later in life he retired from Moose International as Regional Manager serving mainly the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Tommy was a life member of Shreveport Lodge 2239, and Bayou Moose Legion 116. He was honored to have received the Pilgrim Degree of Merit in 2006 and serve as class representative. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police -E.G. Huckabay Lodge #3 for many years, Shreveport Elks Lodge #122, and the Krewe of Gemini.
Tommy had far to many dear friends during his journey of life to name all of them. We know they know who they are. But I say to all of them from both of us; thanks for the wonderful memories we had and shared through the years.
Tommy did not want to have a formal service, but the family will have a short visitation time at Aulds Funeral Home from 5:30pm – 7:30pm on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 for anyone wishing to pay their last respects.
