Mr. Thomas “Tom” E. Gentry, age 80, of Franklin, KY passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at his residence.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 22, 2024 and from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Woodburn Cemetery in Woodburn, KY with military honors by the Simpson County Honor Guard.
Tom was born May 21, 1944 in Nashville, TN. to the late William McKinley Gentry and the late Lena Bell Faulk Gentry. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Julia Gentry and Violet Watkins and 2 brothers, Charles Gentry and David Gentry.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Joyce Gentry; a son, Josh Gentry (Marissa) of Louisville, KY; 3 step children, Jennifer Murray (Dennie) of Franklin, KY, Jessi Clark (Tyler Aukerman) of Union City, OH, Justin Clark (Caroline) of Louisville, KY; 7 Grandchildren, Ty Murray (Lindsay), Mallory Murray, Charley and Georgia Clark, Miles and Rex Hughes, Cyrus Aukerman, 1 great granddaughter Raelyn Murray; a sister, Bea Doster (Jesse) Sharon, TN; 4 brothers, Soney Gentry of Murray, KY, Robert Gentry (Judith) of Kenner, LA, Glenn Gentry (Linda) of Prattville, AL, Arvil Gentry (Pat) of Columbia, TN.
Tom was a member of the Woodburn Baptist Church. He was a 1961 graduate of Central High School in Nashville, TN and was an Army Veteran. He was retired from American Airlines where he worked in passenger services dealing in the VIP clientele.
Tom loved to be around people, loved music and was a collector of many things but his favorite was his record album collection which at one time had over 10,000 albums.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Peterson Foundation for Parkinson’s at 3825 Bedford Ave. Suite 101, Nashville, TN. 37215 or at petersonforparkinsons.org, envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
