Thomas A. Gerndt sadly passed away on November 24, 2022. Tommy (as he preferred to go by) was born to Ned and Barbara Gerndt on May 13, 1965 in Pontiac, MI. He attended Waterford Kettering High School and Wayne State University, before starting his career in automotive engineering.
Tenacious Tommy showed his love by creating the PERFECT meal for his family, loved ones, and even his dogs. Everyone who knows an engineer knows how long it can be for them to get something done, and Tommy was no exception. Anyone who was lucky enough to sit at his table knew that their meal would always be late, but it would also always be (as Tommy himself would say) "beyond yummy." Many of his family and loved ones' favorite memories of him involved sitting with him in a warm kitchen and seeing his enthusiastic diligence as a new dish came together. It was in cooking for his people that he showed his real skill and his character.
Tommy is survived by his mother Barbara; his three brothers Jeff (Sharon), Kevin (Diane), and John (Linda); his two children Zachary (Jane) and Zoe; and many others who loved him dearly.
Please join us in celebrating his life Saturday, December 3 at the O'Brien-Sullivan Funeral Home in Novi, MI. Visitation will begin at 11:00am and a celebration of his life will begin at 3:00pm.
