Thomas Andrew "Andy" Gintz, born on May 3, 1960, in Dover, Ohio, passed away on September 21, 2025, following an extended illness. He was the son of the late Ed and Shirley (Baumgardner) Hostetler and Thomas Allen and Elaine Gintz.
A member of the Dover High School class of 1978, Andy continued his education at Akron University. Andy was self-employed for many years.
On January 19, 1980, he married Patricia Gintz, who survives. He is also survived by his two sons; Joshua (Kelly) Gintz of Dover, Jordan (Andrea) Gintz of Dover; two grandchildren, Sailor Grey and Hunter Allen Gintz; his brother, Mike (Jennifer) Hostetler of Grove City, Pennsylvania; his sister, Kris (Steve) Smith of Lebanon, Ohio; and his mother-in-law, Shirley Thompson of Dover; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Andy and Patricia shared a love for traveling, especially by sea, having enjoyed 16 memorable cruises together. Their adventures took them to many beautiful places, and Andy particularly loved destinations with palm trees, which always brought him a sense of peace and happiness. In addition to traveling, Andy cherished time with his family and found great joy in supporting his grandchildren, regularly attending their sporting events and school activities with pride and enthusiasm.
Andy loved supporting the Dover Tornadoes. He was also an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, the Cleveland Browns, and the Ohio State Buckeyes, celebrating countless games with friends and family. He was a member of the New Philadelphia VFW, the New Philadelphia Elks, and the National Rifle Association. Andy loved America deeply and was a true patriot, proudly honoring his country and the values it stands for throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Gintz; his father-in-law, David A. Thompson; brother-in-law, Scott Thompson; and his sister-in-law, Chris Thompson.
In honoring Andy's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
