GLOWCZEWSKI, THOMAS passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at the age of 90. Tom is the beloved husband of the late Janet. Loving father of Sharon (Gordy) Steele, Al, John (Marylene), Dave (Julie), Carol, Mark (Stacey) and the late Glen (Cynthia). Proud grandfather of Jose, Andrew, Matthew, Shawn; Kennedy, Kylie; Tyler and Teagan. Dearest brother of the late Antoinette (the late Jim) Sattler.
Tom was born on November 4, 1934 growing up on Joseph Campau Street in Detroit. One of the most notable childhood memories he always spoke of was about the family dog named Tippy. It is suspected that this is where his love for dogs began!
Tom met Janet while in High School at Saint Joe's through a mutual group of friends, with every "couple" in the group becoming life-long friends. They married in 1957 and started a family. In 1972, and 6 (of 7) kids "in", they decided a bigger home was needed and paved the trail to the small country town of Washington, MI that was adorned with a family owned grocery store, one small candy store, a post office and a pond. At the time, and lucky for the kids, it was a nature's paradise!
Tom was an Electrical Engineer, exceptionally intelligent and loyal to his profession. His career start was at Bryant Computer Products before accepting a dynamic position at Chrysler Corporation, where he remained for the tenure of his career. Tom retired in 1996 and moved Up North with Janet to the quaint town and sparkling teal waters of Suttons Bay. Tom would always say (repeatedly) "isn't this just the most beautiful place in the world"?! With their view off the pristine white sand in the Bay, it certainly seemed to be.
In 2011, Tom, now widowed, moved back to Washington, MI to be close to his kids, AND, to another beautiful home with a view! He had knack for finding nature's paradise in his backyards.
Tom enjoyed many of life's simple pleasures his favorite, eating (a true proud member of "the clean plate club" ) and other fun things such as playing bridge, fishing, boating, camping, gatherings with friends, annual canoe trips, nature walks and playing tennis with his daughter, Carol. He wasn't a court mover or ball chaser in the least, but his effort to indulge Carol in play was touching, none the less. However, it must be said that his most treasured joy in life were his dogs Tasha, Nikki (both Samoyeds) and Misty, the sweetest Golden ever! There was never a day where he missed their walk, or a treat (or 5!) the love he had for his fur companions was immeasurable. Tom was also a devout Catholic and had a charitable account where he donated to many causes each and every year in giving back.
It is well know amongst everyone that Tom's biggest legacy left behind will be his conversational, charismatic and humorous personality and presence. He is known by family friends as "Mr. G" and he has created a stage for a plethora of memories and stories, that not only have been told countless time already, but that will continue to be shared for years to come.
Visitation Saturday 10:00am until time of 12:30pm Funeral Service at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd. (SHELBY TOWNSHIP).
