Doru "Nick" Nicolescu

Doru "Nick" Nicolescu, age 84, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025. Beloved husband of Nancy for 61 wonderful years. Loving father of Natalie (Stan) Bazarewski, Paula Nicolescu, and Gina Nicolescu. Proud grandfather of Sean, Joseph, Jacob, and Kristen. Cherished uncle of Darlene. He was preceded in death by his dear sister Amelia and mother Paulina.

Born with a spirit of courage and independence, Nick journeyed to the United States by plane at just eight years old - all by himself - to begin a new life filled with promise. Years later, fate led him to a corner diner, where he met the love of his life, Nancy Zambardi. They were married on November 3, 1964, beginning a lifelong partnership built on devotion and laughter.

Nick dedicated more than 35 years of service to General Motors, followed by 15 years at Walmart after his retirement. A man of simple joys and steadfast routine, he found happiness in his vegetable garden, barbequing, and his daily ritual of feeding the birds at 2:00 p.m. sharp. He enjoyed trips to the casino, a good scratch-off ticket, and sharing stories with family and friends.

Nick will be remembered for his hard work, sense of humor, and the warmth he brought to every gathering. His love of family and appreciation for life's small pleasures will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 4, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, November 5, at 9:30 a.m. until the time of a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 13650 Fifteen Mile Road, Sterling Heights. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.

Nick's presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he loved.
