Ronald Dennis LaGorio

Ronald Dennis LaGorio, known affectionately to friends and family as Ron, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, in Harrison Township, at the age of 80. Born on March 26, 1945, in Mount Clemens, Ron's life was marked by dedication to his country, his family, and his community.
Ron bravely served on a U.S. Navy Destroyer during the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1966, demonstrating a commitment to service that would define much of his life. After his honorable discharge, he embarked on a successful career with IBM, where he worked for 30 years as a customer engineer. His work ethic and expertise were highly regarded, and he was known for his ability to solve complex problems with patience and precision.
In a testament to his lifelong love of learning and helping others, Ron returned to school later in life. This new chapter led him to work alongside his daughter as a social worker, where he applied his unique blend of compassion and technical skills to support those in need.
Ron's Lutheran faith was an integral part of his upbringing and remained a cornerstone throughout his life. He found joy in boating and RVing, pursuits that allowed him to explore and appreciate the great outdoors. An avid hunter, Ron respected nature and cherished the tranquility it offered. He also enjoyed wintering in Florida, where the warmth of the sun matched the warmth of his spirit.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Karen, who stood by his side in every adventure and challenge and five children Ronald Dennis, Jr., Tammy Renee, Jeffery John, Helen Mary and Debra Ann. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and enduring memories. His family and friends will miss his wise counsel, his gentle humor, and the generous heart that made him a beacon of light in their lives.
His legacy of service and love will be honored with an inurnment with military honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Ron's life was a testament to the values of loyalty, courage, and kindness. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. Ronald Dennis LaGorio's life was a journey well-traveled, and he leaves behind a trail of love and respect that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
