On Monday, January 27, 2025, Thomas Hakey, a long-time resident of Swanton, VT, passed away at the age of 71.
Tommy, as he was affectionately known, was a gifted baseball player who played throughout his school years. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting and fishing. He was proud to be part of the first graduating class from MVU High School. Following his graduation, Tommy served his country in the US Army.
Thomas is survived by his brother, Richard Hakey of Highgate, VT; Donald Hakey and his wife Cynthia of Mooers, NY; and his sister Beatrice St. Francis and her husband Gary of Swanton, VT. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish his memory.
Thomas is predeceased by his parents, George D. Hakey and Ella (Root) Hakey, his brothers Robert, Lester, and Steven Hakey, and his sister Shirley Fydenkevez.
At this time, no services are planned. A burial will take place this summer in Swanton, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Tommy's life.
